A whale that obtained 150,000 ETH through Ethereum ICO in the early stage has recently started to sell a large number of tokens.
According to cryptocurrency analyst EmberCN, the whale recently transferred another 5,000 ETH to the Kraken trading platform, worth about $12.22 million. This move took place a few hours ago.
In fact, the whale has sold a lot of ETH in the past two weeks. According to statistics, it has sold 45,000 ETH, worth about $113 million, with an average selling price of about $2,516 per ETH.
EmberCN also shared the sales history of the whale, showing that it strategically exited at different prices at different time points.
As early as July 2019, the whale sold 5,000 ETH at a price of $218 per ETH, making a profit of about $1.09 million.
By June 2024, the whale liquidated another 10,000 ETH, when the price of ETH was $3,539 per ETH, making a profit of about $35.39 million.
The most recent large-scale sell-off occurred in September-October 2024, when the whale sold 45,000 ETH at an average price of $2,516 per ETH, making a profit of about $113 million.
So far, the whale has sold 60,000 of the 150,000 ETH it obtained through the ICO, making a total profit of about $149 million. Despite the strong sell-off, the whale still holds a large Ethereum position. 94,540 ETH, worth about $230 million at current market prices. Among them, 4,540 ETH are staking income obtained by the whale through platforms such as Lido and Rocket Pool.
It is worth noting that the whale's move came at a time when the price of ETH was falling. In the past 24 hours, the price of ETH has fallen by more than 3%. In the past week, the price of ETH has fallen by more than 7.4%, currently hovering around $2,400.
