Polymarket election bets approach $1 billion
The cumulative betting volume on the decentralized forecasting platform Polymarket has reached $1.75 billion since the beginning of the year.
The platform's popularity is largely due to the presidential election, with bets on it reaching $900 million.
Kamala Harris is leading with an estimated 50% chance of winning, versus 49% for Donald Trump. However, $144 million has been bet on Trump, while $127 million has been bet on Harris.
