According to Foresight News, Péter Szilágyi, head of Geth development and a member of the Ethereum Foundation, posted on social media, "I often wonder if I chose the wrong industry. For example, SpaceX, they sent a rocket to Mars? Humanity progressed. They failed to launch the rocket and it blew up? Humanity learned a lesson and still progressed. All results have brought progress. In contrast, the encryption industry is simply a casino for fools (apologies to the few exceptions). Prices have risen? Great, when will I buy a sports car? Prices have fallen? Life has been destroyed. What is the contribution to humanity? Yes, it does take time to build a new monetary system. Of course...but can we do something useful in the process? Everyone wants to be the next Vitalik, nobody wants to build anything useful, everybody is just trying to extract value. I really don't see why the system shouldn't collapse? What do we have to lose from a macro perspective? All the crypto industry has done so far is just a huge value transfer, I haven't seen any substantial value creation. Note that getting rich through luck and then moving the money to some non-crypto project is not a crypto success story. It's at best a success story of a lucky philanthropist, and more likely just a simple diversification of one person's investments. In my opinion, the industry should have started creating something actually useful that people want to use, or it should have closed down. At least Bitcoin tried (and failed) to be a safe haven asset. But the others are selling shovels, and there is no sign of a gold rush at all."
