To overcome the terrible consequences of the recent earthquake in Morocco, Binance Charity will airdrop up to 3 million USD worth of BNB to Binance users identified to be living in the affected areas by this tragedy.
User identification will be based on Proof of Address (POA) completed before September 9, 2023 in Marrakesh-Safi Governorate, the hardest hit area. Users who completed their POA before this date in the Marrakesh-Safi Governorate region will receive 100 USD worth of BNB directly to their Binance accounts.
We realize that many users in the affected areas may not have completed their POA. Therefore, we will donate 25 USD worth of BNB directly to the Binance accounts of users who complete POA after September 9, 2023 and before September 30, 2023.
Additionally, we will also airdrop 10 USD/person worth of BNB to users actively trading across Morocco who are not located in the affected area.
We hope these efforts will reach approximately 70,000 Binance users living in Morocco. The above amount will be transferred to users starting September 12, 2023.
In the aftermath of natural disasters, people often lose access to traditional banking at the exact moment extra money is needed to cover medical supplies, food, and other essential needs.
Cryptocurrency transfers are increasingly being used to provide financial assistance to disaster victims as the method offers fast, low-cost, cross-border and transparent transactions.
Binance founder and CEO CZ said: “The impact of the earthquake on the Moroccan people was extremely severe. We hope to be able to provide some support to the affected people. Moroccan users who received donations but were not affected by the earthquake please pass this money on to those most in need.”
Binance Charity also opened a public donation address for everyone to donate. We will donate all cryptocurrency received through this address to an authorized NGO (name to be announced soon) to help people in need. The Emergency Earthquake Relief Appeal accepts donations in BNB, BTC, ETH, USDC, USDT or BUSD.
