ChainCatcher reported that Kamala Harris' team actually seriously considered the invitation to Bitcoin's 2024 conference, according to Fortune magazine, citing people familiar with the matter. This is news in itself. As a Democratic candidate, her leadership has always been hostile to cryptocurrencies, and she is "negotiating" to speak to 30,000 Bitcoin enthusiasts, which reflects how much policy may change under Harris' leadership.

Gary DeWaal, a former senior trial attorney at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), told Fortune that he doesn’t expect Harris to comment on cryptocurrencies until Aug. 7, when she’s expected to announce her vice presidential pick. “That’s her priority right now,” he said.

First, when Biden became president, many of his economic advisers were former colleagues of Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), who is a staunch cryptocurrency critic. Harris has no such connections. Harris’ tech advisers are considered pro-cryptocurrency, and her husband, Douglas Emhoff, is a “crypto enthusiast,” the crypto lobbyist said. “I expect she will switch sides,” he added.

In a possible positive sign, billionaire and Bitcoin enthusiast Mark Cuban told Decrypt this week that he had received multiple questions about cryptocurrency from Harris' team.
