The number of transactions and active addresses on the Base chain both hit record highs

According to data from The Block, the number of transactions and active addresses on the Base chain have reached record highs. On July 15, the Base chain recorded 3.28 million transactions. That number had climbed to 3.52 million transactions by the end of the week on July 19, an average daily increase of about 1.8% over the week. While the number of transactions surged, the number of active addresses on Base also hit a record high. The number of active addresses increased from 567,000 on July 15 to nearly 650,000 on Friday, July 19, an average daily increase of approximately 3.5% during the same period. Base, meanwhile, has seen a significant spike in fees, with charges collected on July 20 reaching its highest daily total in more than a month at $177,000. Base still lags behind Arbitrum in terms of total on-chain value locked (TVL). At press time, Base's TVL was $1.77 billion, while Arbitrum's TVL was $3.25 billion.
