According to Odaily, a man from Columbia County, USA, named Drawdy, has admitted to defrauding over 40 customers by selling expensive computer equipment that he never delivered. U.S. District Court Judge J. Randal Hall sentenced Drawdy to federal prison and ordered him to pay more than $1.1 million in restitution. After serving his sentence, Drawdy will also undergo three years of supervised release.

From August 2021 to April 2022, Drawdy participated in an online cryptocurrency discussion forum, where he received over $1.1 million from at least 42 victims. These victims believed they were paying Drawdy to provide cryptocurrency mining computers. However, Drawdy did not deliver the computers and instead pocketed the payments, eventually ceasing all communication with the customers. In some instances, he offered partial refunds but demanded a 'handling fee' for the refund process, ultimately neither refunding the money nor providing the computers, and cutting off all contact with the customers.
