Protect Progress, a political action committee (PAC) affiliated with Fairshake and backed by crypto companies, has provided at least $1.7 million in support to two Democratic candidates running for Congress in Arizona.

Cointelegraph reported on July 18 that Protect Progress made more than $1.3 million in media buys in support of Democrat Yassamin Ansari, who is running to represent Arizona's 3rd Congressional District. Additionally, a filing with the Federal Election Commission on July 20 showed that the Super PAC made approximately $415,000 in media buys for Andrei Cherny, who is running for Arizona's 1st Congressional District.

Cherny was the co-founder of financial firm Aspiration and its CEO until 2022. In 2021, his company brought “more sustainability” to crypto by partnering with NFT marketplace Curcio. Coinbase's Stand With Crypto notes that the Democratic candidate supports crypto and digital assets.

According to Protect Progress's website, the committee supports "Democratic candidates committed to securing the United States as the home of innovators building the next generation of the internet." The group is associated with Fairshake Super PAC, which funds attack ads against Democratic candidates in California and New York.
