Cynthia Lummis noted that during the recent massive Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) system outage caused by a bug in a software update from CrowdStrike, the Bitcoin network remained unaffected by the incident, while other industries experienced complete chaos.

For example, the tourism sector was hit hard: the largest US airlines American Airlines (NASDAQ:AAL), Delta and United had to suspend flights. Electronic systems failed, requiring manual registration. Banks were also in trouble, with financial institutions around the world struggling to function as customers were unable to make transactions.

Lummis noted that the Bitcoin blockchain and related cryptocurrency services continued to operate without interruption. The senator wrote the Latin phrase “Vires in Numeris,” which translated means “strength in numbers.”

Do you know what form of currency hasn’t been affected by widespread cyber outages? Bitcoin. Vires in Numeris

Thus, Lummis emphasized that the Bitcoin network uses complex mathematical algorithms to ensure security and stable operation even in unpredictable technical conditions. The official expressed confidence in Bitcoin, and not in centralized authorities.

Lummis recently proposed backing the dollar with Bitcoin to improve the country's financial system. The Republican also opposed the introduction of a digital dollar, fearing that it would violate citizens' privacy.
