Biden's last-ditch effort to win reelection
Current situation:
US President Biden discussed closely with senior aides this weekend how to return to the campaign to save his re-election campaign. Despite growing calls from within the party for him to step down, Biden's determination has become stronger. On Wednesday, Biden tested positive for the new coronavirus and is currently in isolation at his beachfront villa in Delaware.
Pressure within the party:
There are increasing calls within the Democratic Party, including members of the Senate and the House, for Biden to withdraw from the race. Officials close to Biden said that despite constant persuasion from the top of the party, Biden's determination to run has not wavered. Even so, rumors in Washington that he will announce his withdrawal over the weekend are rampant, and even some of Biden's long-term allies believe that his campaign has reached a dead end.

Biden himself issued a statement vowing to resume campaign activities next week. Vice President Harris also told Democratic donors that Biden still has hope of winning the election. Biden's campaign chair Jennifer O'Malley Dillon said in a rare television interview that Biden is "more determined than ever."
