Cyvers Alert announced on July 18 that security firm Web3 had detected “multiple suspicious transactions” related to WazirX's Safe Multisig wallet on Ethereum.

According to the post, it is believed that $234.9 million in the Safe Multisig wallet was moved to a new address, with each transaction funded by Tornado Cash, the decentralized protocol for anonymous transactions.

This new address changed the transfer funds including Tether (USDT), Pepe (PEPE) and Gala (GALA) to Ether (ETH). The hacker still has SHIB worth more than $100 million and FLOKI worth more than $4.7 million to sell.

“We are aware that one of our multi-signature wallets has suffered a security breach. Our team is actively investigating the incident,” the exchange confirmed in the X post. “To ensure the safety of your assets, INR and cryptocurrency withdrawals will be temporarily paused ”.

WazirX is a leading cryptocurrency exchange in India, founded in 2018 by Nischal Shetty. WRX is the exchange's native token used on the platform to enjoy incentives and reduce transaction fees. WazirX not only serves users in India but also has an international presence, supporting transactions globally. This exchange provides services such as P2P trading and staking, to provide many investment options for users.

The exchange previously had a controversial trading dispute with Binance, until now it is still unclear how the incident was resolved.
