Trump Reaffirms Support for Crypto, Plans to Launch 4th NFT Collection

Former U.S. President and presidential candidate Donald Trump has reaffirmed his support for cryptocurrency, emphasizing: “If we don’t do it, China is going to pick it up” and dominate the industry. He revealed plans to launch another non-fungible token (NFT) collection, noting that almost all of his previous NFTs were paid in crypto, which he called a “new currency.”

Trump: US Must Embrace Crypto or China Will

In an interview with Bloomberg, Trump discussed his shift from being a crypto skeptic to supporting the industry. The interview, conducted on June 25 at Mar-a-Lago, highlighted his concern that if the U.S. does not embrace crypto, China or another country will dominate the space. Trump stressed the importance of crypto mining in the U.S. for national benefit.

Trump said, “If we don’t do it, China is going to pick it up... they’re pretty advanced in that sphere. So you have to look at it: what I want, again, is what is good for the country.” He noted his interactions with industry leaders and his realization of crypto’s potential during a San Francisco fundraiser.

NFT Collections and Crypto Payments

Trump discussed his successful NFT collections, where 80% of the payments were in cryptocurrency. He highlighted that his NFTs sold out quickly, with 45,000 cards selling out in one day, three times over. Trump plans to launch a fourth collection due to high demand and emphasized how crypto payments opened his eyes to the industry’s potential.

Trump concluded by expressing his commitment to ensuring the U.S. stays competitive in the crypto space, avoiding ceding control to another country. He noted the industry’s promising future and his newfound understanding and support.
