CoinVoice recently learned that according to The Block, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin said in a keynote speech at the ETHCC in Brussels that in the case of a 51% attack on the Ethereum network, malicious actors (or multiple collaborative actors) generate more Ethereum blocks than honest actors. He believes that one of the biggest concerns is that this may lead to network censorship.

He said, “We want the response to a 51% attack to be as automated as possible. So if you’re a validator, your node should be running software that, if it detects that transactions are being censored, or certain validators are being censored, or it’s being censored — it will automatically anti-censorship the majority chain, and all the honest nodes will automatically coordinate on the same minority software because of the code that they’re running.”

Buterin also advocated for increased adoption of light clients in the Ethereum infrastructure layer, especially wallets. He said they should also support zk-EVM verification to provide further support for layer 2 networks. In addition to this, he also believes that the protocol should be further simplified to make life easier for developers and users. [Original link]
