Headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Blockchain Association is a gathering place for the standardization and promotion of blockchain technology in Vietnam. The association plays an important role in promoting blockchain technology in Vietnam and advocates blockchain education by holding educational events across the country.

In 2023, Vietnam became the third largest cryptocurrency value-added country in the world after the United States and the United Kingdom, with a value-added of nearly $1.18 billion, becoming one of the five Asian markets in the top 10 countries in terms of cryptocurrency value-added. Vietnamese citizens reportedly use cryptocurrencies to access otherwise inaccessible banking services. About 17% of the population owns or holds cryptocurrencies, making Vietnam a hub for cryptocurrency activity.
