Asset management companies are optimistic that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) may approve the first batch of spot Ethereum ETFs in mid-July. As of July 9, the following progress has been made:

- 6 spot Ethereum ETF applicants have submitted S-1 document updates, including Fidelity, VanEck, Franklin, 21Shares, Grayscale, and BlackRock.

- Grayscale submitted an S-1 document to the U.S. SEC for its mini spot Ethereum ETF. Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas said that the document disclosed that the product fee rate was zero.

Previously, the SEC has approved the Ethereum spot ETF trading plans submitted by the New York Stock Exchange, the Chicago Board Options Exchange and Nasdaq, but before the ETF is actually listed, the issuer of the relevant ETF still needs to get the SEC to approve its specific ETF listing plan, that is, the S-1 registration statement.

SEC Chairman Gary Gensler recently revealed that regulators are expected to approve the S-1 registration form for spot Ethereum ETFs this summer, a key step before these funds are listed in the United States. Gensler made it clear that these ETFs are expected to be officially launched at the end of the summer, well before the presidential election in November. Industry experts and Bloomberg ETF analysts predict that the approval of the S-1 document may take weeks to months.

Galaxy Digital Asset Management Director Steve Kurz predicts that the spot Ethereum ETF will be approved in the next few weeks. K33 Research analysts believe that after the spot Ethereum ETF is officially listed, Ethereum will outperform Bitcoin.
