🍁 Oh, Canada! The British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC) has found LiquiTrade guilty of operating an illegal exchange. The Latoken crypto exchange, with a daily transaction volume of $300M and 1.5M users, was accused of violating the Securities Act. The BCSC panel found LiquiTrade was trading contractual rights of underlying crypto assets, a big no-no without registration. This makes LiquiTrade the 5th crypto exchange banned in Canada, joining the likes of Catalyx, KuCoin, Poloniex, and xt.com. But don't fret, 15 other platforms are still legally operating. Sanctions for LiquiTrade are set to be finalized by Aug. 14. Meanwhile, licensed platforms are thriving and new signups are spiking. So, keep calm and crypto on, eh? 🚀
