North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper has vetoed a bill that would block the state from implementing a central bank digital currency issued by the Federal Reserve, despite its support in the House and Senate. 🏦 Cooper explained that Bill 690 is too “premature, vague and reactionary.”

“Efforts are underway at the federal level to establish standards and protections to protect consumers, investors and businesses using digital assets, and North Carolina should wait to see how they work before taking action.”

Cooper's decision to veto caused outrage.
