🔐 Private key leaks will be the leading cause of crypto theft in the second quarter of 2024, according to a report from SlowMist. Many users store private keys or mnemonic phrases in cloud storage services such as Google Docs and Baidu Cloud.

Some users even share their private keys with trusted friends via WeChat, and others use WeChat's image-to-text feature to copy a mnemonic phrase to a WPS spreadsheet, encrypt it, and activate the cloud service while also storing it on a local hard drive.

However, this step actually increases the risk of information theft. SlowMist found that malicious entities often use "credential stuffing" techniques, trying to access accounts using login information leaked from online sources.

Apart from that, fake wallets are also a major cause of private key leaks. Furthermore, phishing schemes are the second highest cause of theft.

SlowMist also observed that many theft incidents occurred through unsuspecting users clicking malicious comment links under tweets from well-known projects.

What do you think about this? How do you keep your private keys safe? Come on, discuss it in the comments column! 😊#Blockchain#Crypto #SlowMist
