Former U.S. Solicitor General Donald Verrilli has accused federal regulators of attempting to "debank" the digital asset industry. Representing the Blockchain Association, Verrilli filed an amicus brief in support of Custodia Bank's appeal against the Federal Reserve's denial of a master account. Custodia's application was rejected due to its ties to the crypto industry, a move Verrilli claims is part of a coordinated effort to isolate the digital asset industry. The appeal has garnered support from other parties, including former U.S. Senator Pat Toomey and members of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee. The decision is pending.
