Threads, Meta's social platform, celebrates its first birthday with ambitions to overtake X (formerly Twitter). Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced 175 million monthly active users. Despite the gains, Threads is still far from X, which remains popular in the cryptocurrency community. 📉

Threads saw a surge in new users in its first year, but then saw a significant decline. According to SimilarWeb, Threads' monthly traffic in June 2024 was only 9% higher than when it launched in July 2023.

In the US, Threads has nine times fewer active users than X. Despite the overall figure of 175 million monthly users, Threads still has plenty of room for growth compared to X's 600 million.

The cryptocurrency community appears to remain loyal to X despite some of the benefits of Threads, including better engagement and less bot activity.
