German MP and Bitcoin supporter Joana Cothar is calling on the government to stop the active sale of Bitcoin. Instead, she proposes using Bitcoin as a “strategic reserve currency” to protect against potential risks in the traditional financial system. 📈💰

Kotard added that continuing the sale would not be considered prudent and would in turn be counterproductive for the country. She has invited four German lawmakers to the "Bitcoin Strategies for Nation States" event on October 17 to hopefully convince their colleagues of the benefits of Bitcoin.

According to cryptocurrency intelligence platform Arkham, the German government has already sold 8,083 BTC, worth about $462.1 million at current prices, since July 19.

Following the sale, Germany now only has 41,774 Bitcoin, worth $2.27 billion, in all of its wallets.

Cotard stressed the need to immediately stop the massive sale of Bitcoin, arguing that this could strengthen Germany's economic independence and improve resilience to external financial uncertainties.

Instead of selling, I recommend developing a comprehensive Bitcoin strategy. This could include holding Bitcoin in government treasuries, issuing Bitcoin bonds, or creating a favorable regulatory environment,” Cotard said in a translated statement.

A key component of this strategy will be creating a legal framework to encourage Bitcoin-based innovation and attract the best talent from around the world.
