Star Capital highlights the potential of decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePin) to transform law enforcement in a new report. DeSec, a new sub-sector of distributed infrastructure, involves the creation of surveillance and enforcement systems such as ballistic triangulation systems, radar arrays, and decentralized autonomous public oversight organizations (DAOs). 😮

According to an article by Luffistotle from "Zee Prime", blockchain and decentralized architecture can succeed in these areas due to the trend towards creating redundant security in these systems.

DeSec also goes far beyond community control or decentralization of law enforcement. The decentralized security architecture offers new incentives for local communities to harden existing electrical infrastructure, protecting it from highly destabilizing events such as coronal mass ejections from the sun or electromagnetic pulse (EMP) weapons, while passing the costs onto DePin network participants.

However, an increase in transparency is usually accompanied by a corresponding decrease in privacy. Luffistotle ended with reflections on the challenge of balancing transparency with privacy and avoiding the slippery slope towards an even more intrusive mass surveillance state.
