American actress Sydney Sweeney's X account was hacked and used to promote the meme coin of the same name

ChainCatcher reported that according to Cointelegraph, American actress Sydney Sweeney’s X account was hacked, and the tweets posted in it promoted the cryptocurrency named after her. These tweets have now been deleted.

Solana-based token SWEENEY amassed over $10 million in trading volume within two hours of its launch on July 2, thanks to multiple promotional tweets from Sweeney’s X account.

Starting at 6:15 PM UTC, SWEENEY’s price fell nearly 90% in just over an hour, though it has since rebounded. DEX Screener data shows that its market cap is currently $1.2 million, down from a peak of $3.85 million.

The token and the administrator of a Telegram channel (which was shared on Sweeney's X account) appeared to be responsible for the hack.
