According to Bloomberg, the Democratic National Committee is considering formally nominating Joe Biden as early as mid-July to ensure that the president can appear on the ballot in November and help dispel rumors within the party about replacing him after his poor performance in last week's debate.

Biden's nomination date could be July 21, when the Democratic National Convention's qualifying committee meets virtually, according to people familiar with the matter who asked not to be identified discussing private matters. The Democratic Party has planned to nominate Biden, 81, before the August convention to ensure he appears on the ballot in Ohio, which has an Aug. 7 deadline to certify its nominees.
