Two people were convicted on the grounds that they manipulated the price of Hydrogen Technology's cryptocurrency HYDRO and tried to defraud investors. 😱 This marked the first time a jury in a federal criminal trial classified a cryptocurrency as a security and that cryptocurrency price manipulation constituted securities fraud. 💼🔍

Court documents and trial evidence revealed that Hydrogen Technology co-founder and CEO Kane and the company's Head of Financial Engineering, Hampton, used South Africa's Moonwalkers Trading Limited to manipulate the price of HYDRO. 🤖

Kane, Hampton, and other accomplices executed approximately $7 million in "wash transactions" for HYDRO and over $300 million in "ghost transactions." These transactions led retail investors to purchase HYDRO at artificially inflated prices, which led to the accomplices making a profit of approximately $2 million over ten months. 💰
