Accounts created using anonymous Telegram numbers are especially at risk of phishing attacks.

Recently, the Open Network (TON) ecosystem has seen a surge in phishing attacks. Attackers try to steal wallets from users using deceptive methods such as airdrops.

Accounts created using anonymous numbers are especially vulnerable. This is due to the fact that many users use such numbers to create their Telegram accounts.

The founder of security company SlowMist, warned about these malicious activities. He noted that attackers are using deceptive tactics such as fake airmails to compromise TON users' wallets and steal their assets, including NFTs.

The Open Network (TON) has witnessed significant growth in 2024. The daily volume of transfers on the decentralized layer 1 blockchain recently reached 10% of Bitcoin. For context, the average daily transfer of Bitcoin is $50 billion. However, last week it was discovered that the daily volume of TON transfers fluctuates between $5 and $10 billion.

The surge in online activity can be attributed to several important developments. One of them is the advertising system in Telegram, which distributes half of the income received by channels directly to their owners exclusively in the TON cryptocurrency.

Additionally, the latest DeFiLlama data showed that the total value locked (TVL) in TON rose to nearly $650 million on Monday, representing an increase of nearly 7% in just one week. This represents an increase of more than 4,540% since the start of 2024, when TVL was around $14 million.
