Banque de France (BDF) and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) have signed a memorandum of understanding on central bank digital currencies (CBDC) and tokenization. 🤝 They are exploring the interoperability of their CBDC infrastructures and the efficiency of settlements between countries. BDF uses the DL3S platform, and HKMA uses the Project Ensemble sandbox.

The HKMA launched Project Ensemble in March to explore asset tokenization and the creation of a CBDC. The project involves Hong Kong regulators, the Bank for International Settlements, large local banks, the HashKey crypto exchange and Microsoft Hong Kong.

Hong Kong's digital currency, e-HKD, is actively exploring the use of CBDC. The Aurum project tested a retail e-HKD with a complex structure. The HKMA is also working on tokenization of green bonds and real estate.
