Grass provides users with a new way to mine using network resources. Below is a simplified guide to help you easily get started with mining on Grass. Community nodes are a new version of the network extension designed for core community members to use. Before new features are launched on the network, they will be tested here first, allowing users to experience new earning opportunities in advance. Anyone using a community node will run at 1.25x the network score.

1. Download Grass Community Node

Visit the download link for the Grass Community Node extension for your operating system. Included in the zip file are the CRX files and "grass_config.exe".

When the download is complete, open the folder on your computer where you normally store downloaded files. This is usually the Downloads folder, unless you specified another location.

Right-click on the compressed file and select the Extract files option. Select a destination folder to extract the contents of the compressed file. Click OK or Extract to start the extraction process.

In the unzipped folder, you will find two files: "grass.crx" and "grass_config.exe". "grass.crx" is the Chrome extension file, while the grass_config file will ensure that your browser is able to run the Grass Community Node extension smoothly. By running this configuration to your system, you are actually authorizing the extension to integrate seamlessly with your browser.

2. Install Grass Config (one-time setup)

Right-click on the grass_config.exe file and make sure to select "Run as Administrator".

A prompt will pop up asking if you want to allow grass_config to make changes to get the permissions needed to run Grass Community Node. Click "Yes" to confirm.

If grass_config is installed successfully, you will see this prompt after clicking "Yes".

Restart your browser: Close and reopen your browser to ensure the changes take effect.

3. Install the Grass Community Node extension (CRX) for your browser

Enable developer mode:

Make sure Developer Mode is on. If not, toggle the switch.

4. Add extensions:

Locate the "grass.crx" file you downloaded earlier. Drag and drop the CRX file into the Extension Settings window.

Confirm adding the extension when prompted.

5. Log in to your account at app.getgrass.io. If you are already logged in, refresh the page to ensure your session is active, then open the Grass Community Node extension.

6. Troubleshooting steps

If everything went well, the Community Node should now be connected and running. If you encounter any issues, follow these troubleshooting steps:

Make sure only the Grass Community Node extension is installed. Users should only install either Grass Lite Node or the Grass Community Node extension, not both.

Make sure the extension is compatible with your browser version.

Make sure your browser is up to date. Check for pending updates and install if necessary.

Make sure "Developer Mode" is enabled in your browser's extension settings.

Verify that the Grass Community Node is visible and enabled in the extension settings.

To update the extension manually, go to your browser's extension settings and click the Update button. Make sure Developer options are enabled.
