Binance recently announced a new round of cryptocurrency delistings, including the popular dog-themed emoji coin Shiba Inu (SHIB). The delisting will take effect on June 28, 2024
Binance delists SHIB/TUSD trading pair
In a blog post published on June 26, Binance announced that it will remove several spot trading pairs, including SHIB/TUSD, and terminate the spot trading bot service for this trading pair. Binance recommends that users update or cancel the relevant settings before the SHIB/TUSD spot trading bot is terminated to avoid potential losses. However, this delisting plan will not affect the overall availability of Shiba Inu tokens on Binance's spot exchange.
Other Affected Trading Pairs
In addition to SHIB/TUSD, Binance also plans to delist several other cryptocurrency trading pairs, including BLUR/FDUSD, LINK/TUSD, MEME/ETH, METIS/FDUSD, NFP/BNB, and OSMO/BTC. Binance detailed several reasons for the delisting of these trading pairs in its blog, mainly due to poor liquidity and poor trading volume performance.
Protecting Users and Platform Stability
Binance said that eliminating low-quality spot trading pairs is critical to protecting users and maintaining a high-quality trading market, ensuring the sustainability and stability of the platform. Binance usually performs delisting processes regularly after a rigorous review of all spot trading pairs on its platform. Last year, the exchange delisted the SHIB/BUSD margin pair to stop full support for the BUSD stablecoin.
Shiba Inu Price Continues to Fall
The recent sharp drop in Shiba Inu prices may herald the end of the meme coin's bull run. According to CoinMarketCap data, Shiba Inu has fallen by about 33.06% in the past month. In the past 24 hours, the Shiba Inu price has further fallen by 2.39%, and its 24-hour trading volume has dropped by 36.31%. Currently, the Shiba Inu is trading at $0.000017, a far cry from its all-time high of $0.000044 earlier this year.
