There are 19 crypto billionaires today, with new names joining the list of crypto rich. This number is seven more than the previous year, and the total assets of billionaires grew by 58 percent.
Updating the list of crypto billionaires, Forobes wrote that the number of people making huge fortunes in digital assets has increased significantly.
The first of the new list published did not change: Changpeng "CZ" Zhao, CEO and founder of Binance, is still the richest person in the crypto market with a relatively recent fortune and is currently the 19th richest person in the world.
Although CZ's fortune is now estimated at $65 billion, down from $96 billion last year, he remains the wealthiest person in crypto.
Who else is on the list?
FTX founder and CEO Sam Bankman-Fried is second only to CZ with an estimated net worth of $24 billion. Fried, who is also known as the "Crypto Robin Hood" because he has repeatedly stated that he wants to give away most of this wealth, has not yet done so.
Coinbase CEO and founder Brian Armstrong is in third place with $6.6 billion. Ripple's Chris Larsen and Gemini's Winklevoss twins took their turn on the list with nearly $4 billion.
Newcomers to the list of crypto billionaires include FTX co-founder and chief technology officer Gary Wang, who has a net worth of $5.6 billion from his 16 percent stake in the company. Nikil Viswanathan and Joseph Lau, co-founders of blockchain and Web3 company Alchemy, have also joined the crypto billionaires. The pair reportedly have a net worth of $2.4 billion each and rank eleventh.
Devin Finzer and Alex Atallah, co-founders of the OpenSea NFT marketplace, are also new to this year's crypto rich list. Each has an estimated net worth of around $2.2 billion.
There are several well-known names on the list, including Song Chi-hyung, founder of South Korea's Upbit exchange, who is reportedly worth $3.7 billion. Kim Hyoung-nyon, vice chairman of South Korea's Dunamu, owns an estimated 13 percent of Upbit and is worth a net $1.9 billion.
MicroStrategy's Michael Saylor also remained on the list as a crypto billionaire with an estimated net worth of $1.6 billion. His company's share value has quadrupled in the last two years after a large Bitcoin investment.
Forbes published its first crypto elite list in 2018, when only a handful of executives made the grade. At the time, those who made the list had fortunes of a few hundred million dollars, so the bar was much lower.
