Liu Qiangdong gave each of his elementary school teachers a red envelope of 100,000 yuan. After receiving the gift, his elementary school homeroom teacher expressed the intention to donate it again, believing that their elementary school teachers lacked education and did not deserve such a generous gift. Liu Qiangdong was born in Guangming Village, Longgang Town, Suqian, Jiangsu Province, where he attended elementary school. He once recalled that when he was accepted into university, the entire village contributed 500 yuan and 76 eggs for him. Teacher Wang, who once taught Liu Qiangdong in elementary school, recalled in a media interview that Liu Qiangdong was a good student and even served as the class monitor. Conditions were tough back then; the classroom had no desks, and students used sunflower stalks as a base and mud to build desks. Liu Qiangdong was particularly sensible; after building his own desk, he would also help his classmates build theirs.
