The security agency SlowMist recently released the (2024 Blockchain Security and Anti-Money Laundering Annual Report), which pointed out:
According to the SlowMist Hacked event database, there were a total of 410 security incidents in 2024, resulting in losses of up to 2.013 billion USD. In comparison to 2023 (a total of 464 incidents, with losses of approximately 2.486 billion USD), the losses decreased by 19.02% year-on-year.
DeFi remains the most frequently attacked sector. In 2024, there were a total of 339 DeFi security incidents, accounting for 82.68% of the total number of security incidents, with losses reaching 1.029 billion USD. In comparison to 2023 (a total of 282 incidents, with losses of approximately 773 million USD), the losses increased by 33.12% year-on-year.
From an ecological perspective, Ethereum suffered the highest losses, reaching 465 million USD. The second highest is BSC, with losses of 87.35 million USD.
In terms of incident causes, security incidents caused by contract vulnerabilities were the most common, totaling 99 incidents, leading to losses of approximately 214 million USD. The second most common cause was security incidents caused by account hacks.
