According to ChainCatcher, Evan Van Ness, the founder of the Ethereum Weekly News (Week in Ethereum News, abbreviated as WiE), announced on social media that "due to a conversation with the leadership of the Ethereum Foundation (EF) earlier this year, I am announcing that this newsletter will cease operations, as communication indicated they believe continuing to operate (Ethereum Weekly News) has no value.

In the remaining time of 2024, WiE has received very little funding support from the Ethereum Foundation. Although this support was mostly symbolic, the EF leadership's decision to cut this trivial support clearly indicates that WiE will be ending immediately.

The withdrawal of support from the Ethereum Foundation clearly told me that it was time for WiE to end.

(Ethereum Weekly News) once had good achievements. Over the years, at conferences, many developers have told me that WiE has had an impact on their Solidity or security careers. They often mentioned that this newsletter motivated them to purchase ETH. Once upon a time, this long-standing newsletter was the upstream source for most Ethereum news supporters.

Unfortunately, WiE failed to find a sustainable business model. Advertising and sponsorships were difficult to sell because the marketing director did not value developers. I have high standards for content, but completing it in a profitable way was just too time-consuming.
