Geoffrey Kendrick of Standard Chartered Bank predicts that the price of Bitcoin will rise to $200,000 by the end of 2025. This prediction is not only eye-catching, but also highlights the growing interest of institutional investors in Bitcoin and the potential of the market. According to Standard Chartered data, institutional investors have purchased 683,000 Bitcoins since the beginning of the year, mainly through spot Bitcoin ETFs and companies such as MicroStrategy. This trend is expected to continue or even accelerate in 2024.
Of particular concern are upcoming policy changes. Standard Chartered pointed out that the incoming Trump administration may reform the supervision of traditional financial companies investing in digital currencies, which may pave the way for large institutions such as pension funds to enter the Bitcoin market. If even a fraction of the $40 trillion in U.S. pension funds were to shift to Bitcoin, a surge in market demand could push prices up significantly.
Although the target of $200,000 seems optimistic, it is not entirely without basis. The influx of institutional investment, the popularization of spot Bitcoin ETFs, and the trend of more funds being allocated to crypto assets all support this prediction. Nevertheless, market volatility and policy uncertainty remain factors to watch. Bitcoin's future performance will depend on the interplay of technological development, regulatory environment, and market confidence.
