Odaily Planet Daily News: Meta, owned by Zuckerberg, seeks to ask California Attorney General to prevent OpenAI from transforming into a for-profit company. Meta accuses Sam Altman's company of 'exploiting' its non-profit status to raise billions of dollars. In a letter to California Attorney General Rob Bonta, Meta stated: 'OpenAI wants to change its status while retaining all the benefits that have brought it to its current position. This is wrong. OpenAI should not be allowed to flout the law, seize and repurpose assets established as a charity for potential massive private gains.' OpenAI is one of Meta's biggest competitors in the AI technology race. Meta wrote in the letter: 'If OpenAI is not held accountable for its choice to establish as a non-profit organization, it could lead to a surge of similar startups that are ostensibly charitable until they become profitable.' Thus, Zuckerberg stands alongside Elon Musk, who is engaged in a legal battle to prevent OpenAI from becoming a for-profit company. Musk is one of the 11 co-founders who left OpenAI early on, and he initiated a second action in November to stop OpenAI's transformation, requesting the court to issue an injunction against the company. The injunction request also states that OpenAI and its largest corporate investor, Microsoft, are collaborating to create a 'for-profit monopoly' engaged in anti-competitive behavior, with goals that also include Musk's AI company xAI.
