Eric Trump, the second son of the elected president of the United States, recently shared his views on Bitcoin during an interview with Bitcoin Magazine at the "2024 Bitcoin Middle East and North Africa Conference". He emphasized Bitcoin's transformative potential and compared it to the cornerstone of his family's business—real estate—while highlighting Bitcoin's unique advantages as a hedge for traditional investors.

Eric Trump mentioned that he has spent his life on construction sites and described the tangibility and vitality of real estate. However, he also recognized the limitations of physical assets, such as lack of liquidity and difficulty in responding to global market changes.

Trump noted: "If I had a hotel, it might take me five years to build, and if I wanted to sell it, it could take another two years to sell that property." He acknowledged that real estate has many advantages, including leverage and tax incentives, but also pointed out a significant drawback: "Real estate lacks liquidity."

It is at this point that Trump views Bitcoin as a revolutionary alternative, asking, "What could be better than an instantly liquid asset as a hedge against real estate?"

Viewing Bitcoin as a portable and easily accessible asset

Eric Trump further elaborated on Bitcoin's portability compared to real estate, saying: "I can't move Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue and 57th Street to London, Singapore, or the UAE, even if the market is better there. Whereas Bitcoin is portable—it's digital."

He also praised Bitcoin for eliminating intermediaries and lowering costs, stating, "No brokers, bankers, lawyers, title companies, or middlemen," and unlike real estate, Bitcoin does not carry the risk of physical damage from fire, flooding, or natural disasters.

Democratization of investment opportunities

In addition to its technical advantages, Trump also emphasized Bitcoin's role in democratizing wealth accumulation opportunities. Real estate investments usually require substantial capital and expertise, while Bitcoin provides an entry point for those who may not have large resources.

"Building or buying a home is out of reach for 99% of people," Trump said. "They can't build a 70 or 80-story building on Fifth Avenue in New York; the entry costs are too high." However, Bitcoin, as an asset, is not only easily accessible but has historically provided higher returns than most real estate investments.

Trump also highlighted Bitcoin's potential in empowering people in developing countries, stating:

"Bitcoin gives those who previously had no opportunity a chance to invest, succeed, and possibly change their lives."

As a proponent of long-term investment strategies, Trump confidently expressed his belief in the future of Bitcoin, stating: "There is no doubt, it is the future, and those who embrace it early will succeed, while those who do not accept it, as I said before, will be left behind."
