Markus, also known as "Shibetoshi Nakamoto" on X, expressed skepticism about any groundbreaking revelations in the film. Dogecoin, a meme-based cryptocurrency, was created in 2013 as a parody of Bitcoin, using the latter's code as a foundation.

Markus, using humor, often plays off the mystery surrounding Nakamoto, denying any connection to the figure. In a recent post, he sarcastically stated, “I can’t wait to be underwhelmed and disappointed by the HBO Satoshi documentary.” His playful tone reflects the broader sentiment that the documentary may not deliver substantial new information.
Polymarket, an online prediction market, has been buzzing with bets on the identity of Nakamoto. According to their data, 75% of users believe that the cryptographer and privacy advocate Len Sassaman is the person behind Bitcoin. Sassaman, who died in 2011, is seen by many as a strong candidate due to the timing of his death and Satoshi's last known communication. However, this theory remains speculative.
Adam Back’s Role in the Film
The documentary also features interviews with several key figures in the cryptocurrency space, including Adam Back, a well-known cryptographer who communicated with Satoshi before Bitcoin's release. Back has consistently denied being Nakamoto, and the film’s inclusion of his perspective adds to the ongoing speculation.
Samson Mow, the former CSO of Blockstream, a company co-founded by Back, also appears in the film. Mow dismissed claims that Back is Nakamoto, citing differences in writing style between the two. Nevertheless, he noted the curious connection between Nakamoto's name and the Chinese characters that translate to "China."
