President of Russia says he is concerned about Bitcoin mining
Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, spoke about Bitcoin mining this Wednesday (17), stating that the activity is a threat to the Russian population because it consumes a lot of electricity.
Cornered, Russia is looking for solutions to circumvent sanctions from the USA and European countries. Earlier this month, for example, the Russian Central Bank recommended that companies use cryptocurrencies in international trade.
However, the country is also concerned about a possible spread of the use of cryptocurrencies within its territory, which could weaken its currency, the ruble. Given this, the following week the same BC issued a long document, stating that stablecoins were banned in local commerce.

On-chain data reveals that the German government has finished liquidating its 50,000 bitcoins, valued at R$17 billion. The coins had been seized from a film and series piracy website that operated between 2008 and 2013.
Trading at US$58,700, Bitcoin operates up 2.5% this Saturday morning. Other cryptocurrencies also operate on the rise, with emphasis on Ripple (XRP), which rose 9.8% in the same period after the announcement from the CME Group.
