Gene Borrello, a former gangster turned federal informant, was placed in a section of the prison with former gang members, informants and high-level inmates, including Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF). Borrello recently sat down for an interview with Tiffany Fong, where he discussed his time in prison with SBF. According to Borrello, SBF was on suicide watch and was extorted by other inmates. He also claimed that SBF did not eat or shower for days. To protect SBF from further extortion attempts, prison officials separated him from current gang members.

However, Borrello managed to stop an extortion attempt. Borrello described SBF as timid and spoke of his unrealistic expectations regarding his sentencing. Borrello believed SBF would likely receive a life sentence due to the judge's strictness and the high-profile nature of the case. SBF's sentencing is scheduled for March 28 and his lawyers plan to appeal NOCEBOURSE
