On April 19, or when Bitcoin miners mine block number 840,000, the number of Bitcoins in circulation will be halved from about 900 per day to 450.

This event, known as a “halving,” is generating a lot of interest in the Bitcoin community.

Once all 21 million Bitcoins have been mined, the halving will complete its function and end (probably in 2140).
