According to Blockworks, the Uniswap Foundation revealed in a tweet on Thursday that the highly anticipated Uniswap v4 is likely to be launched in the third quarter of this year. The draft code of Uniswap v4 was first announced in June last year, introducing the concept of "hooks". Hooks solve the rigidity of traditional smart contracts, allowing developers to inject custom logic at specific points to achieve dynamic adjustments and diversified use cases. For users, this means potentially lower fees, better asset management strategies, and access to cool new features such as instant swaps. After the Ethereum Dencun upgrade, which is expected to occur in March 2024, multiple Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) will also go live, including EIP 4788, EIP-1153, and EIP-4844. Particularly relevant to Uniswap v4 is EIP-1153, which will implement transient storage. Blockworks Research analyst 0xpibblez wrote in a research report that EIP-1153 will allow developers to optimize smart contracts to achieve more complex functions. The Uniswap Foundation said in a tweet that to ensure the smooth release of Uni v4, the v4 code "should be the most rigorously audited code deployed on Ethereum". Uniswap developers have currently frozen the v4 code and are working on security improvements as well as determining and testing its applicability. After an internal review in collaboration with multiple Web3 auditing firms, a full audit will be conducted and a community audit competition will be held.
