Is Musk's Starlink about to go against the odds again?
SpaceX announced today its next-generation V3 Starlink satellites: "Each Starlink V3 launch on Starship is planned to add 60 Tops of capacity to the Starlink network, which is more than 20 times the additional capacity per V2 Mini launch on Falcon 9.
What does this mean? Simply put, each V3 Starlink satellite will have a 1 Tops downlink speed and 160 Gbps uplink capacity, which is more than 10 times the downlink capacity and over 24 times the uplink capacity of V2 Mini Starlink satellites.
In the past, we always thought that this thing in the sky had slow internet speeds? Too expensive?
But in fact, Starlink is constantly upgrading, and as the number of users grows, costs will also be significantly reduced!
In particular, V3 satellites will also have nearly 4 Tbps of combined RF and laser backhaul capacity.
Additionally, V3 Starlink satellites will use SpaceX's next-generation computers, modems, beamforming, and switching technologies."
It seems that Musk's 140 satellite launches this year must have some significance...! What does it mean? More on this next time (1)
