According to sources cited by Bloomberg, Brian Quintenz, the policy head of the crypto division of venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, a16z crypto, has become a leading candidate to head the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), which could represent a significant shift in cryptocurrency regulation under the leadership of President Donald Trump.
Before joining a16z, Quintenz served as a commissioner of the CFTC. Sources say he has recently interviewed for the position of CFTC chairman.
