Market Review
On Thursday, the dollar rose slightly due to positive market sentiment and higher interest rates relative to other developed countries. The dollar index finally closed up 0.14% at 106.17. Due to the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, the U.S. stock and bond markets were closed for one day on November 28.
As geopolitical uncertainty and trade war concerns boosted safe-haven demand, spot gold rose for three consecutive days and finally closed up 0.07% at $2,637.74 per ounce. Spot silver finally closed up 0.42% at $30.20 per ounce.
As Israel and Hezbollah accused each other of violating the ceasefire agreement and Israeli tanks opened fire on southern Lebanon, WTI crude oil finally closed up 0.20% at $68.86 per barrel; Brent crude oil closed up 0.46% at $72.65 per barrel.
Major European stock indices closed higher across the board, with Germany's DAX30 index closing up 0.85%; Britain's FTSE 100 index closing up 0.08%; and Europe's STOXX 50 index closing up 0.54%.
Hong Kong stocks opened lower and fell throughout the day, with a weak trend.
