According to a report by CoinDesk, messaging software company LINE plans to launch mini Dapps by the end of January 2025, allowing its 196 million active users to use decentralized applications (Dapps) including games and app types on its messaging application.
The mini Dapps on LINE will be built on the Kaia blockchain, which evolved from the public chains Klaytn under South Korean messaging software company Kakao and Finschia under LINE, as the two completed a mainnet merger this year and launched the Kaia mainnet in August.
Kaia DLT Foundation Chairman Sam Seo further stated that LINE will launch 30 Dapps on its portal platform by the end of January and plans to release another 150 before the end of the first quarter.

LINE's initiative reflects the trend of social media and instant messaging applications integrating blockchain technology to provide more services. For example, messaging software Telegram, which has over 900 million users, offers mini Dapps through The Open Network (TON) blockchain, including games like Catizen and Hamster Kombat.
‘Games are the main part,’ Seo said in an interview with CoinDesk. ‘Others include social applications, some DeFi (decentralized finance), and AI-based chat DApps.’
