I wonder if anyone is as confused as I am?

The reason for the 50 basis point rate cut is that "the economy is actively seeking a soft landing without any signs of recession";

So does "actively seeking a soft landing" mean that the Fed believes that it may face a "hard landing" if it does not cut 50 basis points?

Doesn't that mean that the Fed believes the economy may fall into recession?
