According to "The Block" report, Ethereum's second-layer network development team Optimism revealed a roadmap to introduce native interoperability between second-layer chains in the ecosystem (including OP Mainnet, Zora, Base), which will It involves messaging protocols, a universal token standard (SuperchainERC20), and a failure-proof system that ensures safe asset transfers.
Layer 2 chains in the Optimism ecosystem (also known as Superchains) currently rely on the Layer 1 Ethereum mainnet for secure communication and asset transfer, which results in the dispersion of assets and users. Developers plan to introduce native interoperability into hyperchains with the aim of achieving portability of assets and users between chains and making them accessible anywhere by integrating applications.
The developers noted that the goal of the interoperability solution is to allow Hyperchain to operate like a single blockchain, allowing users, assets, and developers to move seamlessly between networks. “To achieve this, we are working on Establish a unified super chain."
The Optimism ecosystem operates using a scaling solution called Optimistic rollups. The flagship network of the ecosystem is OP Mainnet, and other Layer 2 chains include Base, Mode, Zora, Lyra, and Aevo. Worldcoin, a digital identity network co-founded by Sam Altman, the founder of artificial intelligence development company OpenAI, is also using a development software stack called "OP Stack" to develop its own second-layer network.
Solve the problem of fragmentation
The implementation includes a protocol to facilitate the creation and delivery of cross-chain messages and introduces a universal token standard (SuperchainERC20) to enhance cross-chain portability. In addition, the developers plan to deploy an interoperable failure-proof system to ensure safe asset transfers.
Optimism’s roadmap also outlines the launch of a developer network (devnet) to test messaging protocols and token standards. Subsequently, the test network and main network will be launched one after another to achieve instant cross-chain interaction.
The plan also extends from the hyperchain to the broader Ethereum ecosystem, with the goal of standardizing the user experience across different ecosystems by adopting common cross-chain interfaces such as ERC-7683 for asset transfers.
