Therefore, additional security measures in your Binance account are essential to protect your digital assets and personal information.

Protecting users’ funds and personal data is an absolute priority for Binance. As such, we take cutting-edge security measures and continually update our protocols to combat the latest threats. At the same time, user vigilance remains critical to protecting the ecosystem. In this article, we’ll cover four essential tools to enhance the security of your Binance account and offer helpful tips to help you stay safe in the complex world of crypto.

1. Authentication apps

Google Authenticator

Authentication apps like Google Authenticator help improve account security by adding another layer of protection in the form of two-factor authentication (2FA). The app generates temporary, one-time passcodes that change every 30 seconds. By activating Google Authenticator, you significantly reduce the risk of unauthorized access, even if someone gets hold of your password.

How to enable Google Authenticator?

1. Download the Google Authenticator app on your mobile device*.

* Use Google Authenticator without linking it to a Google account, as this reduces the risk of your Google account being compromised. You can skip the account linking process during setup. Click the account icon in the upper right corner, select Use without an account, and click Continue to unlink your account.

2. Log in to your Binance account and go to Account > Security.

If you are using a phone, log in to the Binance app and open the Account Center. Click on the profile icon on the top left of the screen and go to the Security section.

3. Under Two-factor authentication > Authenticator app, tap Manage.

4. On the Authenticator App page, click Turn On.

5. Scan the QR code displayed on the Binance interface using the Google Authenticator app.

You can also tap Copy to copy the 16-digit setup key and paste it into the Google Authenticator app or enter it manually.

6. Enter the generated code from the app to verify and enable 2FA.

Security keys are a hardware-based security measure that ensures that only the owner of the physical key can access your account, providing an additional layer of security. This technology provides strong protection against phishing and other attacks by requiring physical access to the key to log in.

How to use security key with Binance?

6. Insert the security key into the USB port of your computer or mobile device. If you have an NFC key, hold it near the sensors of your mobile device.

7. Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm and bind your security key.

4. Multi-validator verification

Multivalidation is a useful security feature that requires multiple parties to approve a transaction before it can be executed. This extra layer of verification helps protect against unauthorized transactions, which is especially useful for high-value transactions such as withdrawals.

* The multi-validator feature is only available to whitelisted users. It will be available to all institutional users by the end of July, so stay tuned. You can contact your VIP account manager to get whitelisted and activate the multi-validator feature.
