According to Cointelegraph, Dylan Meissner, former vice president of finance at Delphi Digital, was sentenced to four years in prison for embezzling nearly $4.5 million and was required to repay more than $4.6 million.

Judge Michael P. Shea of the District Court for the District of Connecticut sentenced Meissner on Dec. 17 to 48 months in prison, plus two years of supervised release. Meissner served as Delphi's vice president of finance from October 2021 to November 2022, during which time he misappropriated company funds and falsified financial records.

Meissner received a 50 Ethereum loan from Delphi in January 2022, but failed to repay it and misappropriated approximately $4.46 million before being fired. As part of the plea agreement, he admitted to wire fraud and waived his right to appeal.

Prosecutors viewed Meissner’s actions as part of an ongoing, multifaceted scheme rather than a one-time lapse. He claimed he would return the funds, but prosecutors said that showed he was intent on using company funds to cover his personal losses.
