Michelle Bond creates a crypto think tank

Contributions to Michelle Bond's 2022 congressional campaign were part of a criminal investigation against her partner, Ryan Salame.

With her partner set to go to prison in 70 days following his sentencing related to the fall of FTX, Michelle Bond announced the launch of a cryptocurrency-focused think tank in Washington, DC.

In a June 20 announcement, Bond said he had helped launch the Digital Future think tank. According to his LinkedIn profile, the think tank is one of the first professional experiences Bond has listed since the collapse of cryptocurrency exchange FTX. Contributions to her 2022 campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives related to the company became part of the charges against her partner, Ryan Salame, the former co-CEO of FTX Digital Markets.

According to Bond, the think tank will focus on helping create a “favorable regulatory environment” for fintech, digital assets, and artificial intelligence (AI) in the United States. He added that US lawmakers “have yet to pass meaningful and impactful legislation on cryptocurrencies and AI.”

Before the collapse of FTX, Bond was CEO of the Digital Asset Markets Association. She has also been CEO of Capitol Advisory since 2023, a “consulting firm that assists fintech companies with regulatory, legal and public policy issues and advice,” and served as an advisor to the US Senate Banking Committee of 2011 to 2012.
